My inspiration for this layout was a small creek from tropical forest. The Challenge was to find the right hardscape. The size and shape needed to be perfect to fit this shallow aquarium.
I build the hardscape to mimic the flow from left to right, so you can see the movement of the water. As part of the maintenance routine I have performed a 50% wc every week and dosed liquid fertilizer on daily basis.
In this layout I have primary used reverse osmosis water and aimed for very low tds - this is good to keep the algae away, but also has had negative effect on growth of Rotala species. It is important to find the right balance between RO water and tap water for the the correct amount of minerals.
